Features

For a reliable solution of superior strength, our cross-linked polyethylene 3LB charcoal foam is a great choice. Offering an impressive durability coupled with versatility in application, this is a foam you can count on for years of use.

As one of the more durable solutions on the market, our chemically cross-linked foam is an extremely fine-celled material of high quality, ideal for projects and applications that require thicker foam and more longevity. Offering a smooth, pleasing feel and surface, this option combines the best in appearances and texture with the best properties in durability for a powerhouse solution. Ideal for applications requiring a thicker closed cell foam, our cross-linked polyethylene 3LB charcoal option offers a durable material you can use for a range of applications such as thermal insulation, construction expansion joints, and industrial gaskets. Thanks to the impressive low moisture permeability and high buoyancy, this solution can also be used as packaging and in flotation equipment. Recently I received a 1" panel of the "Cross Linked Polyethylene - 3LB Charcoal", it worked great for my purpose. I actually was able to use a circle cutter to cut a hole through the foam, though my cutter had a 1/2' blade, so I had to cut the hole from both sides of my foam panel. Then I was able to use a heated foam cutter blade to cut the panel to the size that I needed. All went well.... I was happy with the product and the support!
Great Product

I used 3lb weight a number of years ago and wanted to try it out on a current commission. This is a fantastic product. If you need more rigidity than standard L200 this is perfect. Cuts very well on a bandsaw. I suggest using a silver sharpie on it, as black ink will come off more on your hands. Great product and quick delivery from Foam Factory.
Fantastic

Good Foam for Cosplay, but has it pros and cons

I have been using XLPE in 2lb density for several years now in my cosplay armor builds. I recently switched to the 3lb density for a bit more rigidity. The XLPE is extremely easy to work with as it cuts very smooth and is just a durable as EVA foam. The fact that it is smooth on both sides allows me the ability to cut pieces and not always have to worry about which side is textured. However, the few cons that I have with it is that it does not score and separate like EVA foam does. On my recent order, I noticed that the full sheet of 1/4" XLPE had a few melted concave bubble areas in it. Possibly from the extruding process? While not a big deal, it was just the first time I had seen this when ordering from this company. The scoring properties and heat bubble areas are small issues really and I will continue to order the XLPE in the future.
